Ep. 156: Summer Break Announcement, Where to Find Me & What’s Next!

Summer Break Podcast Erika Tebbens Consulting

After three years of weekly content, the team at Erika Tebbens Consulting is taking a summer break!

Historically we’ve replayed much-loved episodes for a portion of the summer months so that content can continue to be published while we work on other things. However, this year we decided to take an actual break so that we can all enjoy more of what matters most in life.

Before we go, Erika has a special message for you. Don’t forget, with over 150 episodes there’s plenty to listen to while we’re away. And you can always reach out to Erika over at ErikaTebbens.com.

  • Hey there. Welcome to the, sell it sister podcast. This episode is going to be pretty short. I know sometimes I say that and then it goes for like 20 minutes, but I truly mean it. Um, I just wanted to do a quick, uh, wrap up and, um, just give you, you know, like a bit of a heads up about like what's going on around here and, um, what you can expect and all that jazz.

All, all good stuff. But I just wanted to have wanted to have something formal here. So, especially since, um, you know, I know not everyone listens every single week. Uh, so you might be getting caught up and it might be a few months from when this comes out and, um, this can bring you up to speed or you might be somebody who is a new listener and didn't want to leave you hanging.

So. First things first, uh, we are taking the summer off, around here from the podcast. Uh, I started it in April of 2019. So just over three years ago and with the exception of like Christmas week and, you know, things like that, where I know that, you know, even for people. Who don't celebrate certain holidays.

Like I just, I know that there it's less likely that they're going to be around and also like I'm not around to promote. Uh, like, you know, to, to post that, like, Hey, there's a new episode up. And to promote the episode where I've given myself and my team time off on those weeks, just because I know, you know, people, people got stuff going on and they don't necessarily need to have like a podcast episode to listen to during that, during that time.

Uh, but other than that, I have not had any actual. Like stretches of time off. Right. We don't do internally. We do seasons like for our operations, but we don't actually have seasons where it's like, you know, we put out like 25 episodes and then we take a break. Right. We just kind of keep. Going, um, and what we have historically done over the summer is I will replay some of the most popular episodes or the most loved episodes, um, in what I call my summer rewind series.

And so I had thought about doing that again, and then I was like, no, I don't. I just not feeling it right. Like, we've done it for the last few summers. It's great. Glad we did it. Gave us like a few weeks off from that, but it still meant that I was marketing. Like, Hey, it's a summary rewind episode. And I thought too, cause I always batch these.

I was like, oh, I, I had this idea. I was like, I'm going to do like a, like a five minute thing, right? Like a five minute like marketing moment, right? Like something that would help you with sales or, you know, business growth or whatever. And I was going to have a really, really quick tip and post those, but then again, it came back to, well, if I'm doing that, I really should be letting people know, Hey, this is up.

Right. So if, if you aren't somebody who already subscribes, or even if you are, but maybe you don't go into your podcast app, like on the regular, a lot of times people will see me posting about it on Instagram and they're like, oh yeah, new episode. You want to go check it out? I was like, no, I'm still back at that place of how to market it.

Right. So, cause you know, I want to practice what I preach. So yeah. I was like, well, what are, what are the options, right? What are the choices that we, that we have here, eczema, big believer that you are always at choice, uh, in your business. And I thought, well, I could take the summer off. Talk to my team, we could work on other projects, different things behind the scenes, and it seemed like, okay, cool, cool, cool, awesome.

We're going to do that. I was really excited. And then I realized, oh, my downloads are going up significantly. Right? Uh, not, you know, not like I had a hundred a week and now I have like a hundred thousand a week. Not to that extent. Because of a lot of marketing that I've been doing consistently over the years and the momentum from that, all of a sudden I'm like, oh, the downloads are up quite a bit.

Then I had to make another choice. Do I give into FOMO and not take the advice? I would give a client and. Just keep going anyways, out of a fear that I might miss out on some like potential business or do I go with my truth and truth won out, which is, I really want my, even though my team has like great systems on the backend with podcasts, it does not take us a ton of time to get these put out.

Uh, there are things to be done, right? It does take some time and it takes my energy and their energy, but also my energy and like, thinking about what I'm gonna record, uh, you know, marketing it, marketing it, the whole thing. Um, and I just thought, I don't want to write, I, I had a lot of projects last summer, tons and tons, some personal, some business.

Uh, they were good. Glad I did them, but I ended up being busier than I wanted to be last summer. And I got to the end of the summer and I felt like I didn't even have a summer kind of like when you get to the end of a vacation and you're like, shoot, I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation. That's how I felt.

And I didn't want to feel that again. So I decided I'm not going to. Because I also have over 150 episodes that are really good, that people can go back and relisten to if they want to, that anyone new to the podcast, uh, could go back through and check out. Right. Um, I also have a plethora of blog posts over on my site@ericaturbans.com.

Um, I'm on social media, primarily Instagram, Eric Devin's consulting. Right? So I'm, I'm a lot of places, right? You might be Facebook friends with me who knows. I don't really hang out on LinkedIn too much, even though I have a profile there, but I digress. Uh, so I'm like, you know, what w why? Right. Like why, why would I do that to myself and my team when we can do other stuff, including just like working less, uh, I know that after the last, um, two, you know, over two years, like we, we are tired.

We are depleted. We are, we just want to like be and replenish and recuperate and do all of those things. Right. And so. Yeah, I want to practice what I preach. Some giving myself that gift. Uh, if you want to find me, um, or, you know, talk about working together, obviously Eric, Erica Kevin's dot com. Um, it has all the other places that you can find me as well.

Also as my contact form, it also has my call booking form. Um, the link to just book, right in as also chat with erica.com that will direct you to acuity. You can get on my calendar. Because I will still be working, right. I'll still be working with clients. Um, and you know, doing the rest of the stuff on my business, just not, uh, you know, won't be showing up here on the podcast.

Um, so you can always, you can always reach out to me, uh, still be open for business. Um, so yeah, and the. Final thing that I want it to say in all of this, but I wanted to take with you, um, because there has also been some discussion around, uh, like I might possibly tweak some things with the podcast, um, after the summer, when we come back, which is what we're planning.

Now we're planning to come back, um, you know, once summer's over and. I have some other things I want to change up about it too, but I'm just, again, I'm just giving myself the time and the space to not make any decisions right now and just be with it. The thing that I want to leave with you is this is no that you can always trust your inner truth, your inner guidance system.

Right. And I know it can feel hard in the online space to be like, Well, I don't know, cause this person says this and this person says this, so I don't know. What's true. I don't know. What's right. I don't know what I'm allowed to do or why I should do or whatever. So I, I understand that that can be tricky, but also just trust your gut.

If something feels fun and exciting and invigorating. Even if you're like a little bit nervous about it, but if it feels like, oh my gosh, I'm feeling pulled to do this, do it, try it. Right. You'll you will only know once you try something. Right. And conversely, if you're like, I don't know, like this just doesn't feel like me.

You, you might have to hunt around to find a different way. Might need to hire. Uh, person or people to find a different way, but just trust that there's probably a different way that you can get to your same goal. Right. And also trust that like, if your body is screaming for change or for rest or for community or for whatever, right.

Go towards. Go towards it. I know it can be hard sometimes to trust ourselves for a variety of reasons, but when I have listened to my truth, it has always led me somewhere. Good. So even though my ego. Is like, oh my God, what will people think? What do they say? What if they forget about you? What if nobody comes back later?

What if this, what a fat, like, you're so dumb. You're the numbers are finally starting to like go up, up, up, and now you're just going to leave. Right? Like, it's gonna tell me all of those things, but my gut is still like, no, we're, we're taking the summer off. And I, I just trust at this point that. Because I do that because I make that decision to honor my truth.

That magical, wonderful things will come from it. So take care of yourselves. I'm around. I'm in other places I'm not falling off the face of the earth. I just won't. We won't have regular episodes here. Um, June. August, but again, you can listen to the back catalog, feel free. Uh, you could still tell your friends like over the summer, especially if people are back to travel, if they're vacationing, whatever, um, let your, your business owner friends know if they would get value from.

Podcasts. They don't already listen, tell them about it because it's a perfect time to go back and binge past content. But whether this is your first time here or your a hundred and 50th time here or more, I really appreciate. Be sure to get on my mailing list. There's all sorts of ways. I'm on my site.

Erika tabin.com. There are free resources. Any of those that suit your fancy, they're going to get you onto my email list as well. So that is probably the best place to be just in case I'm ever off social as well, or something happens over there. Um, otherwise you can hang with me. On Instagram, Eric Tevin is consulting and yeah, don't be a stranger if you want to, if you want some help this summer, um, strategizing, um, planning for the fall, uh, I would, I would love to help you, right.

It's a great time to start doing big, uh, picture visioning, um, over, you know, over the summer to get ready for the end of the year. So I would love to help you with that. Last thing. Cause I forgot to mention it cause it doesn't fully fit in with my business. Um, but part of what I was busy on last summer and I've been busy on for two years is writing my first book.

So that'll be out in the fall. So I'll talk more about that then, but um, hope you like it it's been a, it's been a true labor of love. Alright. On that note, happy selling happy summer or I guess I should say I won't be so Northern hemisphere center. You might. I have a lot of people who are in the Southern hemisphere.

You might be in Australia. You might be a New Zealand, if so, happy winter to you. Um, and I will see you on the flips.
